TALL, DARK and DEADLY has been out for just over a month and I’m excited to announce its going to a second printing! Thanks to all of you who have bought my book, and enjoyed it.

With some books, especially the ones I’ve written that are a bit more controversial, I’ve received e-mails, and reviews, letting me know they didn’t like the book. Some of these e-mails were constructive and polite, others not so polite. In the case of TALL, DARK and DEADLY the e-mails that came in announcing they didn’t like the book all listed the same reason. Enough in fact to make me wonder.

When more than a handful of readers e-mail me asking “What happened to Vicki Straus?” I can’t help but think something might be wrong.

Ladies and gents, Vicki Straus didn’t just disappear from the story line and get forgotten by the hero, heroine, her parents, and this humble author!

If you own a copy of TALL, DARK and DEADLY right now, a first edition, please refer to page 87. A couple paragraphs were left out of the final printing, enough to give the impression my hero and heroine weren’t as attentive as they should have been. I brought this to the attention of my publisher and have been asked to let all of you know what my final edited copy shows, and how it will read in the second printing, which should be in bookstores soon. For all of you with a first edition of TALL, DARK and DEADLY, below are the paragraphs missing from your book.

(Missing) Excerpt from TALL, DARK and DEADLY:

“Two firemen poked through the inside of a charcoaled vehicle as they walked up to the scene. Pulling on latex gloves, she held them over her nose, inhaling the plastic scent. It wasn’t strong enough to block out the hideous odors surrounding her.

The car was black, with all windows busted out. Burnt rubber mixed with another foul smell. The smell of burnt flesh, hair sizzled to nonexistence, clothes burned until they were dust in the air. She pinched her nose shut, breathing through her mouth as she stood next to the driver’s side and saw the remains of what was once a body. Flesh had melted from the bones, warping the position the person had been in while alive. Hair was singed to the scalp where large red holes oozed putrid smelling blood and tissue. The jaw hung open, obviously from the final screams of the victim and offering a hollow abyss where a tongue should be.

“Vicki Straus?” Grace choked out the question as she stepped backwards awkwardly. Her stomach lunged toward her throat more than once before she regained control of her professional persona.

“It’s hard to say at this point.” A man some ten years her senior, with a receding hairline, glanced up. He then stood up, and gave Grace his full attention. “Dental records should confirm or deny that.”

She glanced once more at the burnt figure behind the wheel, and then slowly walked around the car, breathing only as necessary to avoid the gut-wrenching stench. Justin leaned against his car talking on his police radio. She glanced up, and saw him watching her, but his expression didn’t change. She reached the other side and studied the ground, the road, the grass underneath the car, trying to replay what possibly could have happened.

The firemen doused the fire before she arrived. And their efforts left flattened grass, and soaked ground after being sprayed to stop the fire. She avoided large puddles although her shoes were obviously not waterproof. Water sloshed between her toes in her socks as she hunched over on soggy ground and peered into the back seat, or what was left of it. Any evidence on the ground around them, or the field off the side of the highway was washed away. An unfortunate necessity to keep the fire from spreading.”

And there you have it. So for all of you who noticed the “forgotten” character in TALL, DARK and DEADLY, I promise, she wasn’t forgotten. Those of you who have a first edition of TALL, DARK and DEADLY, hold on to your copies. Maybe someday after I’m dead they’ll be worth a lot of money. *grin* I appreciate those of you who brought it to my attention, or I wouldn’t have thought to compare the paperback to my final edited word doc. Mistakes happen. We keep moving on and learn what we can from each event. I promise though, poor Vicki Straus will remain in a special place in my heart, and as well in the second and third printings of TALL, DARK and DEADLY.

Look for new copies of the book at your favorite bookstore soon, it will be a few paragraphs longer.

There is only a day left to some of my auctions on e-bay. Here is the link to check all of the auctions out. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZlorieoclare I’m goint to put up more of my artwork for auction.

The boys and I are arguing over which paintings I should list. They want to keep the ones they think are the best and I keep saying if someone is going to hang something I painted in their home, I want it to be my best. LOL.

But anyway, I’m head over heels buried in rewriting parts of my first book for St. Martins. And I’ve been told that edits are on the way for my first Kensington book. Busy, busy…LOL. But on the upside, edits are done (I’m pretty sure…lol) for my first two leopard books for EC. Keep a close eye on my coming soon page on my website as I’ll be updating it regularly as I get more release dates and covers. I know its been a while since I’ve had a book out, but the wait is almost over. *g* My first leopard book comes out Aug. 13th!

Oh also, if you haven’t checked out my paintings, they are up on my website now, too. I’m far from professional, but I’ve wanted to share with you for a long time what I do when I’m not writing, or when I’m brainstorming out a scene for a particular book. I put up captions with each painting so you know what I was working on when I painted each painting.

Keep an eye on my e-bay auctions. I’ll load more stuff soon!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to everyone who made it to the chat last night. For those of you who show up every month, or when you can, you know how much fun they are. I swear it’s the fastest hour you can experience. LOL.
For those of you who didn’t make it, I wanted to tell you about my exciting news.
Last Monday my agent called me and told me she was in negotiations, and that if all went well, she would have a contract offer for me.
My agent is a terrible tease because of course after getting off the phone with her, I couldn’t write a single word to save my life. I was too excited!
She called me around nine and at eleven thirty she called again. I’m not sure how I lived through those two hours. LOL. I remember her saying, “If you would like to sign a contract with St. Martin’s Press for A MAN’S WORLD and write two more books for them, then you will now be an author for St. Martin’s Press.”
          And yes…I screamed!!
My agent laughed. I bet she was all ready with cotton ball in her ear when she called me. And of course then she tries to talk business with me. Silly girl. Like I remembered a thing she said after that.
Later that evening, Monique with St. Martin’s Press called and talked to me about A MAN’S WORLD (the title is going to be changed although I don’t know what the new title will be yet—I’ll let you know when I know.) and the two other books she wants me to write.
I’m going to have an FBI Sex Crimes series out with St Martin’s Press!! Is that too cool, or what??
The books will be mass market paperbacks, and they will be steamy romantic suspense. Real close to erotic, but not erotica. I don’t have exact release dates today, but when I do, you bet I’ll let you know. I do know we’re going to start edits on A MAN’S WORLD here within the next month. And in the mean time, I’m having a blast writing the second book.
Basically, as I mentioned these will be FBI sex crime books. The first book is ex-sex slave turned cop goes after her old master in an action packed, thriller. The second book is about an FBI agent and a lady cop going under cover as a married couple to learn who is murdering spouses in a swinger’s community. And the third book is about an on line predator who has murdered several teenagers and the FBI agent who goes undercover to entice him on line and arrange a meeting. She suspects the murderer is a cop so when a local detective starts getting a bit too close, she can’t tell him that she’s undercover with the FBI.
I’m so excited and thrilled to be writing these books, and so grateful to St. Martin’s Press for giving me the opportunity to write them for all of you to read.
Of course, I still have a leopard series up and coming from Ellora’s Cave. I’ve shared a bit about that series with all of you already. When I have release dates for those books, I’ll be sure and tell you.
Now it’s back to writing for me. I just wanted to fill everyone in on my exciting news! I hope you enjoy reading these books as much as I am enjoying writing them!

In my last contest, I asked what your favorite book was in 2007. There were so many different answers. I shouldn’t be surprised. There are thousands of incredible books out there. I love different books depending on my mood. I’m sure you’re the same way.
Here are the answers that came in during the first few days. Please comment and add your favorite book to the list, if it isn’t already on there. Then take time to scan this list. You might find some more books to add to your “must read” list.
The best book that I read would have to be Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I know, I know, I
didn’t say one of your books, but in my defense Harry
Potter gives me a good bonding experience with my 14
year old. I won’t let her read your books until she is
at least 18 and then we can bond with your stories!

His Perfect Woman by Kay Stockham
Primal Heat by Sherri King, Lorie O’Clare and Jaci Burton

Oh lord their have been so many. Uhmmm how about top 5? (in no particular order) Nalini Singh Slave To Sensation, Morgan Hawke Interstellar Service and Discipline: Victorious Star, Dead World Lorie O’clare, Vampire Queen’s Servant by Joey W. Hill, Wraith by Phaedra Weldon.

Hard to choose: What stands out as a favorite is the Merry Widow trilogy by Candice Hern. All three of those books were terrific and she is my all time favorite author.

Christine Feehan’s “Dark Prince” which got me hooked on her Dark Series

Lots of good books, but if I had to pick one, it would be LKH’s, The Harlequin.

Atonement, by Ian McEwan

I read too much to choose a best book for 2007. I did like Linda Howard’s “Kiss Me While I Sleep” and the Promises books by Sarah McCarty, though.

Oh…you HAD to hit me with that one, didn’t you? Oh, so many…Nora Roberts’ Three Fates is one (I can’t just pick one! An inability for me!) and Diane Whiteside’s story in Captive Dreams, Bound by the Dragon. However I just picked up Angela Knights’ book Jane’s Warlord….I’m guessing that’ll be one of them too! Oh, GOODNESS, I can’t forget this one-my 1st and only Christine Feehan book so far (hey-I have to study!) Dark Demon. I can’t say enough about it!

Hands down, the Bible.

One of the best books I read was Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

I’ve read so many that I couldn’t tell you, but “Nauti Nights” by Lora Leigh would definitely have to be up there with the best of them. (Who let the Dawg out?”) LOL

In her Nature, LOL hubby would like to me to read more of them…

I would have to say Lora Leigh’s Tempting the Beast from her Breed series.

Now it’s your turn. Add your favorite book to this list. All I can say now is that I hope 2008 produces as many good books as 2007 did.

Happy New Year!!

But…I have finished the first book of my leopard series, VISION HUNTER. Here is a scene from the book to wet your appetite. This scene is rated R. It has sexual content. Read at your own discretion.

An unedited scene from VISION HUNTER by Lorie O’Clare…

“But there isn’t anything special about me,” Chan insisted, the smell of her lie faint, but noticeable. “You make it sound like we’re magic like the Malta werewolves. And they were kicked out of their own country because they were different. Then they about destroyed themselves here.”

Josh stroked her hair, running his hand down her arm and then turning her further so that her torso twisted and her large breasts almost spilled out of her bra. His comments scared her, but she wouldn’t cower. What he knew about her already, Chan would be more inclined to leap into the middle of the problem and kick ass until she resolved it.

“Those werewolves weren’t magic, but they possessed an ability to bend the elements to their will. That isn’t what we’re about. If I want to throw you across the room, I’m going to have to pick you up and throw you. I can’t do it with my mind. But there is something about us. How this Leo Pard knew it about you and me, or any of the others who didn’t advertise it, I don’t know—yet.” He rubbed his thumb over her moist lips and his cock grew painfully hard. “Little cat,” he whispered, his voice turning gravelly when his body hardened and a more carnal side of him threatened to surface. “Right before we walked into this room, you saw as well as I did what would happen after both of us were in here.”

“Do you have some special sense that allows you to know if someone has a vision?” Her tone turned hard, almost hateful.

“No.”

“I didn’t think so.”

“But I saw what we’re going to do in this room.” He gripped her neck, poising his thumb so she couldn’t turn her head and forced her to look at him. “And I saw your face and smelled your reaction when I asked you about it. I don’t need some special sense to understand your reaction when you see yourself in a vision, naked, and coming very hard while I’m on top of you, and buried deep inside of you.”

“I didn’t see shit,” she snapped, and for the first time the smell of her lie was apparent. She stubbornly lowered her eyes, refusing to look at him even though he held her face captive. “And furthermore, I won’t have anything to do with a leopard who steals me from my home and intends to turn me over to someone he doesn’t know, simply because my name is on some fucking list.”

She pressed her lips together, looking like she was struggling not to pant. Her nipples were so hard they almost poked through the thin film of material covering them. The only smell stronger than her lie, was the enticing scent of her lust.

“I’m glad to hear that,” he said without hesitating. “That assures me that you won’t go to any of the other hunters. And I’ll kill any of them who try taking you from me. I’m not releasing you to anyone. But the safest place for both of us to be right now is right in the heart of the action. It’s always best to know what your enemies are going to do, without them knowing that you know their plan.”

“Then maybe I’m right where I’m supposed to be,” she said slowly, her tone lowering to a sensual purr. “Since I’m still not convinced who is my real enemy.”

Josh watched her eyes smolder, as the smell of her desire filled the air around them. He ignored her implication that she didn’t trust him. In spite of not smelling another lie, he guessed she trusted him more than she wanted him to know. Or she wouldn’t be relaxing in his arms right now.

“We’re going to find that out.” He lowered his gaze to her breasts and brushed his finger over the swell just above her bra. “It will take patience, paying attention, and not doing anything to alert the others that we have our own agenda.”

She wrapped her fingers around his wrist, but couldn’t move his hand. He quickly allowed his claws to extend and swiped the small piece of material between her breasts. The bra split in two and her large breasts bounced, free from the confinement and looking even fuller, rounder, and perkier now that they were exposed.

“That was my only bra,” she complained, looking down at his hand and then slowly up to his face. Her teeth pressed against her lips. “I’m not sure that you and I have the same agenda.”

“Chan, you’re so aroused right now that the smell of your lust is strong enough to get drunk off of.” His claw wasn’t completely returned to human form when he brushed it over her puckered nipple. “You’re making me want you more and more every second.”

Chan sucked in a sharp breath. “And temptation isn’t something you can fight?”

“This temptation is stronger than most,” he whispered, dragging his fingernail down her middle and then unbuttoning her jeans. “Wouldn’t you agree, little cat?”

“Nothing is too strong to fight,” she said, her voice husky. “And if you think fucking me will instill some kind of loyalty between us, you’re wrong.”

“So you just wish to fuck for pleasure?” He unzipped her jeans and then grabbed the denim at her waist. It took little effort to lift her. But with his cock swollen and throbbing against his jeans, it was a bit more strenuous to lift her in his arms and stand up next to his bed. She slid down his body, her breasts pressing against his chest and proving to be even worse torture than waiting to fuck her. “Do you not care about their being a bond between you and the male you have sex with?”

“Loyalty comes with trust. And trust is earned, not bought with pleasure.”

“Then for now, we’ll just enjoy the pleasure.” He pulled down her jeans, knocking her off balance and pushing her on to the bed then peeling them off her legs.

When she kicked, the rich aroma of her come dripped rich and thick in the air, filling his lungs and damn near pushing him beyond any limit of control. He tossed her jeans to the floor and then grabbed her ankles, spreading her open.

“Oh fuck,” he growled, almost losing it over how fucking hot she was. “You’re so beautiful, Chan.”

She clutched her shirt, which was still balled up under her arms and stared at him with a wild look in her eyes. Her long blonde curls were tousled around her head, making her appear even more the temptress. Josh knelt before her, sure he would drool like a starving cub in the next minute if he didn’t taste her.

Holding on to her legs, he slid his hands up past her knees, keeping her open and taking in how perfect her pussy looked.

“I need to taste you,” he told her, adjusting himself as he knelt against the bed and lowered his mouth to her smoothly shaved pussy.
“No,” she said quickly, and then cried out, digging her nails into his scalp, trapping his head between her legs, as he ran his tongue over her already soaked entrance.

I don’t usually do this. I’m not sure why, but usually I just write and don’t think about announcing, or talking about what I’m writing until its time for the book to come out. So here goes something new…LOL. And no promises that I’ll remember to do it on a regular basis.

I’m creating a new world in an existing world. Make sense? I figured it would.

You might already know about my lunewulfs, Cariboo lunewulfs, and Malta werewolves. Well what none of them realized was that they weren’t alone. Other than humans, other shape-shifters walk among them. So okay, the rest of us already knew that.

The world I’m working on right now consists of jaguars, leopards, eagles and coyotes. Don’t ask me why they decided to make their presence known, I’m still trying to figure that one out. The jaguars are simple–they’re greedy. Well not all of them. But you’ll learn more about them when the books come out. Then we have the leopards. Well there is something really different about them. And they aren’t sure they want to talk about it. Except for Leo. Not only does he want to talk about it, he wants to control it. Well, if he really exists. There’s still some question about that. Now as for the eagles, what can I say? They are wise, all knowing, and never seem to get their feathers riled. But don’t cross them. It can get really ugly.

So there you have it.

You didn’t think I would give away all of my secrets, now did you?

I have to say that I had one of the best book signings yesterday at Village Books, in Columbia, Missouri. Those folks were so nice. So many people showed up and hung out to visit. And they treated me so well! (Quite a treat when I’m used to being ignored and argued with by teenagers. )

I put up pictures in my gallery. On the side bar, go to “About Lorie” and you’ll find my picture gallery. Check out the wonderfully, comfortable chair they sat me in. And everyone who stopped in lounged on the couch. It was like visiting in the parlor, with tons of yummy books surrounding us.

I also put up some more pictures from RAW over in the gallery. Go check it out!

Also, I’ve drawn the winner for the Jaded Sensations contest this week. I’ll announce her name in the newsletter when it goes out. And we’ll launch a new contest then.

Here are some of the answers that came in for this contest. They’re always fun to read.

Yes, I like stories with romance in them, whether it is in modern times or past times. Any other kind is like reading a textbook and ugh, I had to read plenty of those to become a teacher. Now I read for happy endings and good times.
2. If I wrote a book, it would be about twins because I am one. And I could write from experience. Take it from me, most twins are very close and very few sets are good twin, bad twin. The most fun I had in a long time is when my sister and I went to the twins convention in Ohio. That would make a good setting for a murder mystery since every two people looked alike there. Check it out.
3. I have read alot of books I consider lame mainly because the story line was not good and the dialogue was terrible.

If not, what is your favorite genre, and why? Yes, it is because romance gives me a good feeling and that is what I want when I escape into the pages of a book
Absolutesly. I love reading about a man and woman

Definitely! I love HEA’s!

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

I like writing paranormals, especially shape shifters.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel?

I don’t know about worst but I hate when the heroine is perfect. I also hate
stupid misunderstandings that keep the H/H apart.

1. I love to read historical romance, because I like to read about things in the past. I find it very interesting.
2. If I were going to write a book it would be about the Highlands of Scotland. This way I could go there and do research for my book. I think it would be a very romantic place to visit.

3. I haven’t read very many romance novel that I have found anything bad about them. There was one book I tried to read over and over again and could not get through it. I finally gave it to a friend and she couldn’t read it either. I can’t even remember the name of it and don’t want to know the name of it. It was bad.

1. Yes, romance is my favorite genre. I like having the HEA at the end of every book!
2. I would write about friends turned lovers. I like people knowing the backgrounds of each other and growing together.

3. I am really thinking on this one. I can’t remember anything, but I know there has to be something that I didn’t like! How about having sex, just to have sex. I think there needs to be some emotional commitment between the parties.

1) Yes, romances are my absolute fav. I love how different each story is; whether it is a straight out romance or one with a bunch of misunderstandings and obstacles.

2) I believe my story would be one about a twin triangle or a mystical fantasy!

3) The worst thing I have read in a romance story was where the hero died and came back as a ghost to help his love move on in life. I did not enjoy the story much.

1.) Is romance your favorite genre of book to read? (type of book to read) If so, why? If not, what is your favorite genre, and why?
I pretty much only read Romance. I like a guaranteed HEA. That does not mean everything has to be perfect, but at least they go forward slogging through life like the rest of us. I see enough bad things happening to good people in real life and this is my escape where I know things will be ok. Plus, I love a love story. We all dream of a man who loves us unconditionally and fully. I think the reason I’m drawn to were books, vampires, etc. where you find your mate and it is forever is because these guys love their women whole heartedly with no reservations and they can’t leave. I’ve been married 24 years and this is my only marriage, but it has had its ups and downs as do all real relationships, but I love to dream of the relationship where you are so secure that they will never stray, never walk away if things get too tough, etc. They belong to you as fully as you belong to them.
3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel?
alien worlds with weird aliens and a great love with

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? Romance as it’s what I like to read.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel? Nothing really, I’ve read a few that took a while to grab my attention but nothing that stands out as the ‘worst thing’
Romance, especially Historical Romance are my favorite books to read because I like to feel the ‘warm fuzzies’ when the characters reach their HEA.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? Any book I would write, if I could write a book would probably be in England’s Regency period or American Antebellum period.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel? Can’t mention a ‘worse thing’ but I can say that characters not being kept to their background and/or theme (time period) tend to turn me off the book and possibly the author.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? definitely a shapeshifter story

3.) Whats the worse thing youve ever read in a romance novel? I picked up a book from a new author that had absolutely no plot but sex. It was suppossed to be an erotic paranormal romance, but somehow the only thing she included was the erotic part. Totally boring.

If not, what is your favorite genre, and why? Yes, though I prefer certain subgenres within that category - paranormal, futuristic, erotic romance. Why? I want to read as an escape - to take me away from unpleasant reality. I’d rather go far away from that at times, so I’m more than willing to suspend my disbelief.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? I have started a book. It is a combination autobiography/self help book on living with depression.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel? I hate cliches. I hate trite and overused plot devices. I hate poorly edited books. Unfortunately, there are too many books that fit those criteria out there…

Romance is most definitely my favorite genre to read. I guess I would have to say I love to read them is because of their happily ever after ending and the idea of being swept off your feet by the man of your dreams. I tease my husband that since he has to be one of the most unromantic men on the face of the earth, I have to get it somewhere. He just grins and says go for it. Not quite what I was aiming for. He’s soooo clueless.

My favorite genere is romance, any kind of romance. It can be contemporary, historical, fantasy, paranormal, erotica, I love them all. To me they are for the most part feel good books. When you are feeling down and out or just kinda blah, they show you to take time out and enjoy yourself somehow. Romance books make me feel good and remind me of little things that tend to get overlooked in the hustle and bustle of life. I think they also kind of give people hope for a “happily ever after” when things are tough.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about?

Im not sure what subject or genere it would be about. It would have to be something I felt deeply though. I think that is when people right the best, when their feelings are personally involved somehow. Weather it was an experience that gave them the idea for the book or a person that they based the story on. The more I feel something, the better I can explain it and pull you into it with me.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel?

Well, I tend to give any books I read lots of wiggle room. The worst romances I have read were bad had nothing to them, it wasnt necessarly one scene that turned me off to the book. I dont always agree with rape scennes or scenes where there are children getting hurt or something. It all depends on the story. There was one book, a historical, that had a part rape scene and while I dont agree with it, it was a major turning point in the book. The story overall was great, but it wouldnt have been so impacting if it was missing the rape scene. To me the worst book of any genere are the ones that have NO substance. A crappy plot, or one that does not come together as it should. I give my books a LOT of leway. Besides, they are fiction, not suppose to be exactly as the real world is. That is what non fiction is for.

1. Romance is my favorite genre to read. I guess I like stories with happy endings since I worked daily with sad people that have sad lives. I would come home and be lifted in my spirits by reading a romance book and sometimes a Western. I guess i liked those since I live in the West.
I read all other genres but they don’t satisfy me like a good old-fashioned love story.
2. If I would write a book it would include twins since I am one and could give the story some truthfullness about twins in different situations.
3. Well I have read alot of bad books-some because of their improper English usage, some because they were unbelievable situations, and some because the characters just didnt grow by the end of the story. Sometimes i don;t think authors go back and re read their story. Like one I read they were sitting on the lawn and then she walked into his arms. It gave no indication they had gotten up. Or it is a dark night and he looked into her golden eyes. How can he see them if it is dark?

I would love to write a romantic comedy-suspense novel featuring a plus size heroine and very bold and hunky hero. Of course, she would rescue him rather than the other way around!

The worst thing I’ve ever read in a romance novel is when the heroine is extremely whiney and doesn’t ever seem to get over it. I HATE that!!!!

1.) Is romance your favorite genre of book to read? Definitely a romance junkie for 30 years now. Started off reading only historical romance, now there is so much variety, I can pick a genre depending on what mood I am in. Love that.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? pick some kind of paranormal theme, maybe shifters/contemporary storyline

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel? I wish I could remember details about those “What were they thinking” moments, I would say that I tend to get totally grossed out with the extreme BDSM scenarios. Especially pain, just for pain. I need romance to be a major component.

Paranormal, Futuristic, Menage. What’s better than a vampire/werewolf/shape-shifter from an unknown planet in the future with a twin or friend to indulge your every whim.

2.) If you were to write a book, what would it be about? See above answer. It would have lots of steam.

3.) What’s the worse thing you’ve ever read in a romance novel? It was like a travel log. It went into detail the setting, down to the walls and furniture and it never went anywhere with the romance.

As far as fantasising about living in a book, my fantasies tend more toward living as the heroine of a book because the hero has been so yummy, scrummy…hehe!!!

There are many authors I’d love to meet, and I have had the opportunity to meet a few of my fav fantasy authors like, Terry Prachett, George R. R. Martin and Tad Williams. I have also met Sherrilyn Kenyon, which for living in Germany is a small miracle…lol!! Anyways, I think I would love to meet YOU!! For dinner, in a nice restaurant, with lots of time, good food, so we could have a good chat about all those fantastic books you write and the characters and everything!!!

Recommed a book to the world? Oh boy, it would have to be The Bible. Really, not to necessarily change the world to christianism, but because there are a lot of basic truths in that book. Also, there is almost every kind of plot in there, suspense, betrayal, unrequited love, genocide, true love…its a fascinating book.

Obviously the theme would have to be Romance overall but from space travel to time travel to the plain magic of everyday, there’s just no one way to pick!

What kind of meeting would you like it to be? That’s the obvious answer! YOU of course!! While a luncheon type thing would be the ultimate, I would hate for others to miss out so a book signing but one where there would be space and time to actually have a conversation with you and my other faves. One where it might last more then a few hours, more like days and where people would have room to move and talk to each other without being crowded!
*** All the time! If I’m drawn to the world-building
and characters, it triggers my own imagination. The
last book that made me fantasize is Kim Harrison’s
Dead Witch Walking. I figure fantasizing about the
world is a way to enjoy the book a little longer.

2.) Is there an author that you’d just love to meet?
What kind of meeting would you like it to be?
*** I’d go to signings etc. if my favorite authors had
any in my area, but honestly, it’s not a big goal for
me. However, I’d LOVE to meet again my friends who
happen to be published authors.

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which
book would it be? And why?
*** I tend to be careful with my recommendations
because I know books I like aren’t everyone’s cup of
tea. Perhaps I’d go for enlightement and recommend
something like “The Beauty Myth: How Images of Beauty
Are Used Against Women” by Naomi Wolf.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE - Can you imagine what he could write now with all the technology we have today? I would ask him what would he think of the books now that are being written.

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which book would it be? And why?
I would say - any book. Let’s get people back to reading for relaxation and enjoyment.

.) Have you ever fantasized about entering into a book and living in that world? If so, which book would it be, and why?
Well, can I say ALL of the books that I read?? I could never pick just one. I love all the books I read. Some grip me more than others but I enjoy them all!! But I think scottish historicals draw me the most! A highland savage…yummy! Although the only problem I have with that is back then there was no regular bathing…….

2.) Is there an author that you’d just love to meet? What kind of meeting would you like it to be?

Again, I could never pick just one for the same reason as the previous answer!! But what I do know is I am going to be meeting you in a few short days along with a bunch of other wonderful, fabulous authors!! I would like the meeting to be friendly and easygoing. :)

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which book would it be? And why?

Apparently I have a hard time picking just one book for any answer! There are just too many! I would say paranormal romance….All of them. Why?…well, because I totally enjoy reading them!! Different is always good. Being taken away from normal everyday life in the stories I read I find extremely satisfying in my books. And I would recommend them to anyone!!

1.) Have you ever fantasized about entering into a book and living in that world? If so, which book would it be, and why? Yes I have and this is a hard question to answer because there are so many of them. I guess though the one that I would want to enter the most is LKH’s Anita Blake series. To be able to live in a world where vamps and all the other good sexy monsters are real would be the ultimate world for me. I would love it.

2.) Is there an author that you’d just love to meet? What kind of meeting would you like it to be? I would love to meet Stephen King or Laurell K Hamilton. To talk to them and get an idea of how their minds work to come up with the stories they have written would be fantastic. Would want it to be a one on one meeting where we could sit and chat without any interruptions.

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which book would it be? And why?
Another hard one to answer because there are so many good ones out there. I would have to say it would be Stephen King’s The Stand. This is one of the deepest books I’ve ever read. The fight between good and evil and the meaning of all the peoples lives and they way they are involved in the book makes it a wonderful read.

1. No, I haven’t fantasized about putting myself in a book. I thoroughly enjoy reading about others, and I see it vividly in my mind, and that’s good enough for me.

2. There are so many I would like to meet - I read a lot. But if I had to choose one, I think it would be Janet Evanovich. And just chatting over coffee and dessert would be fine - very relaxed.

3. That is a hard one to answer. It would probably be the latest book I read or am reading. I’m always saying to my

daughter, “You’ve just got to read ……..”

2.) Is there an author that you’d just love to meet? What kind of meeting would you like it to be?

There’s too many. I like it to be one on one or as a small group with almost equal authors to readers.

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which book would it be? And why?

Pay it Forward. Because it’s possible. It would never happen in my lifetime, but it’s possible

1.) An obscure vampire erotica novel written by Kathryn Reines, “The Kiss”. The plot unfolds around a college-aged American expat couple, Rebecca and Richard fleeing from Nazis at the height of WW II in
Romania where they are taken shelter in the castle of Count and Countess Viroslav. Rebecca was an insensitive and flighty bitch who rolled in the hay
with anyone she thought was cute (including the Countess and her first lesbian lover Elizabeth) and Richard (whom she claimed to love) was the penultimate dupe. To be given the gift of immortality and the sex toy of a pair of excruciatingly beautiful nightstalking bloodsuckers in a 15-century castle seems like living large to me! I would appreciate my inhuman beauty, sexual prowess and control over men and women and learn from my vampire “parents”. The world would be my golden oyster, and I could branch out and explore my extraordinary
powers long into the future.

2.) Anaïs Nin, I realize she has been dead since ‘77 but, hey, it’s my dream! I’ve read all her fiction, Henry & June and saw the film (starring Uma Thurman). I love Marseilles (thanx to The French Connection I & II) and in FC I’s opening there was this cool cafe in
front of the La Samaritaine Ricard and there I am drinking my afternoon aperitif, pastis, scribbling in my notebook jotting down anything that could help me with my THIRD manuscript when I look up
and Anaïs is there. She takes the seat adjacent of me dressed in a cream-colored cashmere mockturtleneck dress and heels, hair in a chignon she and tells me: “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.”

3.) Alina Reyes’ “Behind Closed Doors.” It is a novel of interwoven short erotica told from the female and male perspective after a predestined couple enter a paranormal circus in contemporary France.
This fiction ranges from the ordinary to the extreme, it teaches us that our sexuality is normal, our time on earth is short and that our experiences can seemingly last no longer than a New York minute. Enjoy
your life with the one you love!

1.) Is there any one male character who has stuck with you over the years? Who was he? (what book?) And why? Jean claude by LKH or maybe tanner from Lora Leigh there is way too many to name lol.

2.) Do you have any auto-read authors? Why are they? Or why don’t you have one?
Lora Leigh
Jackie Frank
Alyssa Day
Lauren Dane
Robin d. Owens
If I could get my fuzzy brain to work I could think of a lot more.

3.) What is your favorite book of all time? And why? Warrior Woman by Johanna Lindsey cause that is the first book i’ve ever read that combined scifi and romance in any significant way. This book still rocks.

1.) Have you ever fantasized about entering into a book and living in that world? If so, which book would it be, and why?
I have always wanted to jump inside the books I read, but if I had to pick one it would be Harry Potter. I just love the fact that there was a whole other society with magic powers. I always wanted to be magic

2.) Is there an author that you’d just love to meet? What kind of meeting would you like it to be? I would love to meet Nora Roberts. I’ve been lucky enough to get to meet some of my favorites at signings but I always seem to miss Nora Roberts and she lives in my area. I would love to ask her just how she comes up with her ideas. I have always admired authors in general and thought I would be a great author if I could just quit procrastinating. Our meeting would be a meeting of the minds. Someone who is so well published should have some great insight on how to overcome laziness.

3.) If you could recommend a book to the world, which book would it be? And why?

Benighted by Kit Whitfield. I only just read it last month and it really made me think. The book was about being normal in a society of lupines and all the prejudices involved. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but some parts were really real in the way that racism still exists to this day. I think everyone could benefit from reading it.

I asked for pictures from RAW since I spent my time chatting and signing and not snapping enough pictures. *Note for next year: take more pictures.* Boy, did you all send in the pics!! There are some awesome shots here, and probably pictures of some people that you chat with on here on a regular, or somewhat regular, basis. Take a look, and hopefully, we’ll see you at RAW next year!

Lora Leigh and Melissa, who owns Paperbacks and Things, in Westland, Michigan. A special thanks to Melissa, who made it possible for all of us to buy so many books. I can only imagine what the airports thought when suddenly so many erotic romance books were being flown all over the country!

Cheryl, standing in line waiting for JR Ward to sign her books. There was never a boring moment at RAW!

Me and Susan. This lady was amazing. Susan was always right there if anyone had questions, or needed help with anything! And a definite lifesaver when my phone didn’t have a signal, and hers did, and I needed to retrieve my laptop! Thank you, Susan!

Someone snapped a shot of me at the ’80’s dance. Good thing I didn’t get out on the dance floor, I can only imagine what those pictures would have looked like. *sigh*

I’m sorry that I don’t remember her name. Someone help me out here. But these ladies stayed up all night to finish this quilt and presented it to Lora Leigh Sunday morning, during brunch at RAW. There was more than one teary eye when Lora accepted this amazing gift!
